Entain has filed a lawsuit in the English High Court against matched betting platform Oddsmonkey, accusing the company of intellectual property infringement.
The case, Entain Operations Limited and others v Liquidity Trading Limited and others, was submitted on 21 August as a civil Part 7 Claim, covering passing off and trademark violations.
The claimants include Entain Operations Limited and its subsidiaries LC International Limited, Ladbrokes Betting & Gaming Limited, and 365 Scores UK Limited, all represented by Wiggin LLP. The defendants are Liquidity Trading Limited and Liquidity PA Limited, which own Oddsmonkey and Outplayed.com, along with Samuel Stoffel.
Stoffel, who previously founded and led Outplayed.com before its merger with Oddsmonkey in December 2024, sits on the Liquidity PA Limited board but does not hold a management role.
Matched betting itself is legal, but widely disliked by bookmakers since it exploits free bet promotions and bonuses to generate profits. Both Oddsmonkey and Outplayed.com highlight such opportunities, offering step-by-step instructions on how users can profit by placing offsetting bets.
