Be careful what you wish for. WPT Global’s $2m guaranteed Crazy Freeroll Series proved so popular that the online poker site has had to postpone the promotion to get its servers up to snuff.
On Monday, WPT Global posted on social media that “Due to overwhelming participation, our servers are overloaded. To ensure the best experience, the promotion is paused while we upgrade our systems and will return October 1.”

The poker room emphasized that all points and rewards are still good, and as a thank you for their patience, all players will receive an entry into a $100,000 Super Crazy Freeroll, with $20,000 to the winner.
The Crazy Freeroll series began August 18 and was supposed to run for 45 days straight. Each day, the site held a freeroll with at least $10,000 guaranteed, hence the series’ name. Every Sunday, there was to be a $100,000 guaranteed Super Crazy Freeroll, such as the one to which players will receive the free entry.
As an example of how popular the tournaments have been, the $100,000 Super Crazy Freeroll on August 23 drew over 1,200 players, with more than 300 players making the money.
As WPT Global said, though, the masses that the series drew caused problems. On multiple occasions, last week and through the weekend, the servers experienced the gamut of technical issues: login problems, crashes, disconnections, and lag. Enough was enough for WPT Global, which has now paused the festivities until it can get its servers to behave properly.
