EXCO Game Studio, the independent slot studio with a player-first approach to game creation, has announced its entrance to the industry with a comprehensive product roadmap and an array of unique mechanics.
Led by former Yggdrasil founder Fredrik Elmqvist, the studio aims to stand out by focusing on immersive gameplay and distinct mechanics to deliver high-impact experiences that moves away from traditional content such as buffalo and Egyptian-themed titles.
EXCO, short for Excommunicado, crafts every game from scratch, driven by a core philosophy of game development shaped by player interests and emerging industry trends. EXCO doesn’t chase volume. A game drops when it’s ready – fewer releases, higher quality.
The studio’s first release, VEGASCALINE, will be launched at SBC Summit in Lisbon next week, with five further games to follow in swift succession, headlining a roadmap of more than 30 titles.
The rollout will be complemented by the GAMEX mechanic suite, which is home to proprietary unique features that power each of the products launched by EXCO: Wrapper Stacks, Power Field, Boss Fights, Power Bar, Doubling Dial like you’ve never seen before, and many more to come – engineered for instant recall and clip-worthy moments.
Fredrik Elmqvist, CEO at EXCO Game Studio, said:
I’m going to be honest, the industry has become a bit tired and lazy, stuck in a cycle of uninspiring product rollouts, sequels and reskins, which is why we’ve launched EXCO.
Our approach to development is that we won’t ship what we won’t play. We’re looking to stand out with our artistic flair and superb mechanics, and we’ve been working for some time to create an exciting roadmap of games that will genuinely shake things up. Come and see us on our stand in Lisbon next week to see what all the fuss is about.
EXCO will be exhibiting at SBC Summit Lisbon at stand B446.
Live Beta: Ahead of Lisbon, EXCO opens a limited live Beta with a small set of brands on Thursday, 11 September 2025 to capture final watchability and pacing data.
