Finn Allen has achieved a unique milestone during KKR’s match against the Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens on May 16, 2026. It is something that no IPL batter has ever done. The Kolkata Knight Riders opener was the first player in the world to hit 10 or more sixes in an innings in an IPL season twice.
Allen hit a blistering 93 off 35 balls, four of which were boundaries and 10 sixes, at a strike rate of 265.71. The knock came after GT had opted for bowling after the toss. Allen had taken 21 deliveries to reach his half-century, and turned the powerplay completely in KKR’s favour.
His innings came to an end when he was caught in a big shot down the ground by Sai Kishore. Allen backed up and looked to clear the ropes again and spotted Rashid Khan at wide long-on. He was 9 runs off of what could have become one of the fastest 100s in the history of IPL.
Top Five Players to Hit 10 or more sixes in IPL
| Player | Times |
| Chris Gayle | 4 |
| Vaibhav Sooryavanshi | 2 |
| Abhishek Sharma | 2 |
| Finn Allen | 2* |
| Brendon McCullum | 1 |
A Record That Even Chris Gayle Never Managed
Before Saturday, Chris Gayle held the record for the most innings with 10 or more sixes in IPL history, achieving it four times across his career between 2008 and 2021. However, Gayle never hit 10 sixes in an innings twice within the same season. Nobody had.
Allen’s first 10-six innings came on May 8 against Delhi Capitals in Delhi, where he scored an unbeaten 100. Eight days later, he repeated the feat against Gujarat Titans. Only Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma have also recorded multiple 10-plus sixes innings in IPL history, but neither has done it twice in one season.
Sooryavanshi hit 11 sixes in a 103-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad in April 2026 and 11 sixes against Gujarat Titans in April 2025. Abhishek Sharma recorded his two such innings in April 2025 and April 2026, respectively. Allen is now the only batter to cross the 10-sixes mark twice inside a single IPL campaign.
Allen Rewrites KKR’s Record Books Against Gujarat Titans
Saturday’s innings brought more accolades to an already stellar campaign for the New Zealand batsman. His 93 has become the highest individual score by a KKR player against Gujarat Titans in IPL history. It also made him the third overall batsman to hit 10 or more sixes in a single match against GT in the IPL, after Will Jacks and Sooryavanshi.
Allen is now in the top four of KKR’s all-time six-hit lists in an innings. Brendon McCullum’s 13 sixes in the first IPL game of 2008 is the best record for KKR, while Andre Russell’s 11 sixes off Chennai Super Kings in 2018 is the second highest. Those are followed by Allen’s two 10-sixes per innings in 2026.
KKR are still battling to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2026, and their journey has been far from smooth. However, Allen’s individual story has been one of the highlights of the season. He has established a record that is on par with the best six hitters the IPL has seen in the past, in a tournament that features the likes of the big hitters.
